The first rule is not to get burned. However, working with a number of hot hobbies including a Fisher wood-burning stove in the workshop, accidents do sometimes happen.

For this review, I'll be referring only to 2nd-degree burns resulting in white, melted skin, blistering and peeling.

This Burn Gel has appeared in my Amazon.Com recommendations for months. I've ignored it each time. I've walked around with ice packs strapped to some medium-rare chuck of flesh for years, why change now? Why are men so stubborn and reluctant to change?

Hot mufflers on motorcycles hate me. In fact, most hot things do.

It took a cast-iron skillet in my favorite Mexican restaurant to convince me to change my errant ways. The tantalizing aroma and sight of SIZZLING chicken fajitas captured my eyes and caused my stomach to kick my brain under the table. I missed the big padded handle and grabbed the skillet.

The server always warns of a hot skillet when he places it on the table. It was not his fault.

In one ear and out the other. Another dominate male trait in my family.

Although the pain was intense and the napkins full of ice were a dripping mess, trying to eat with my left hand was a bigger mess.

My biggest regret was the embarrassment I suffered from the workers running around afraid that I might file a lawsuit. Any person who would do such a thing because they were stupid ought to be shot and removed from the gene pool.

As soon as I got home, I logged in, careful not to drip water into my keyboard, and ordered the Water-Jel Burn Jel from Amazon.Com.

Less than a month later while in the workshop, a 3-inch burn magically appeared on the back of my forearm. My doubt turned to jubilation as soon as I covered the burn with Burn Jel. The pain instantly vanished. The most amazing thing was the healing. Burns have always left scars on me. This time, there was no scar. It's been two weeks and the burn is barely visible. I am 100% sold on this product and am ordering more for every vehicle emergency kit and workshop location. Keeping one of the tiny sealed packets in my pocket at all times might be a good idea.

We keep a few on all the cars glove boxes, in the kitchen, bathrooms, and shop. In work truck, and tool box.
We've put this on kids from sparkler burns to a lady in a restaurant that had a full bowl of super hot soup or curry, or something spill on her. (She ran to the bathroom in tears, my wife took her this stuff, and in seconds the pain was gone. She couldn't believe it.)
Let alone the numerous little kitchen burns, or dumb stuff I do in the garage. Works very good.

Everyone's been burned, please keep some around, and give these to friends...I am buying another box just to give out to friends after this experience...I bought my box of packets 6 years ago, and had the unfortunate instance to finally use them...I was trenching in the back yard, and the trencher bogged down...I put my left hand on the metal part that covers something equivalent to lava hot to brace the pull from my right hand...I heard a sizzle as the skin from my palm began to...well, you know...I knew I had gotten a good burn, and sent my son in to the house at top speed to retrieve a packet of this magical solution...I sent him in not only because he's faster than I am, but the uncontrollable string of cuss words spewing from my mouth was a little much for an 8 year olds ears....within seconds the pain subsided almost entirely. There was no blistering, no peeling, the skin there feels a little leathery...Believe it or not, I continued trenching for another two hours until the job was done...I was careful not to apply too much pressure to the injured area...

Works brilliantly if you get it on the very quickly! I absentmindedly tried to use my hand as a oven mitt yesterday, and the cookie sheet made prolonged contact with my thumb, index and middle finders, and the whole palm area around those. It was excrutiating. I ran to get the burn jel, and got it on in less than thirty seconds. Any time it started to hurt, I put on more, and when I went to sleep, I put on a bunch and covered it with gauze. I reapplied it once this morning, with the gauze.

Now, less than 24 hours later, the only sign that I got burned is a slightly-shiny, pinkish spot between my thumb and my index finger on my palm. This stuff works miracles!

I have tried to use it after the burn develops, and it doesn't work nearly as well for that. Get it on there fast!

I include these in all of my family vehicle first aid kits as a portable burn aid. The other night someone got burned in the kitchen and this was applied following the instructions on the package. The relief began pretty much immediately and took the pain down to a very minimal level within a few minutes and the pain was completely gone in about 10 minutes. Overall I am happy with it since I got the box of 25 to disperse within several first aid kits and the product works.There is another burn product that I keep in my primary home first aid kit that when used seems to take the pain completely away and is faster than this Water Jel .The product is burnshield hydrogel spray. They seem to have changed their bottle design recently but I believe it should still have the same ingredients as the one I have used. I'm not worried at all that they have different speeds since they both have the same result.
