Pros
* Value for money, $2.96 with Free Shipping!!!
* High Resolution
* Works on Ubuntu (Linux) straight out of the box (packaging)
* Light (weight)
* Very convenient
* Easy to get used to
* Works well on a rough or a smooth surface
* Doesn't have to be on the index finger (2nd digit) one can use it by holding it in the hand.
* USB cord long enough to use it on your shorts/ trousers/ hairy legs or any rough or smooth surface far away from the PC/ Laptop
* Would require around only an hour to get used to well, for complete mastery. Dexterity improves with time & with an open mind!
* Adjustable Velcro to adjust to slender or stubby fingers
* Lot's of fun using this
* Compact for travel
* Worth recommending to friends & family
* Tip: Switch off your Track Pad so that you are forced to interact & learn how to use this new device (toy) & give it time at least a few hours to get intimately familiar
Cons
* Did not work for me on Android ASUS Transformer Prime
* No tracking on China Post but the bubble wrap protected it well, was shipped in excellent condition
* Red light blinks steadily & fast if not near a reflective surface, they need to educate potential customers because initially you may think its malfunctioning because of a loose contact or something, when in fact this is a feature!
- First, there seems to be a debate about which finger to attach it to - index or 3rd finger. I have tried it both ways and the differences are interesting. Using it on the index finger seems to be better for pointing and clicking, but scrolling and typing are awkward. Perhaps it just takes some getting used to. Using it on the 3rd finger (with the index finger over the top as a stabilizer) was, at first, more awkward. But after working with it, this usage makes typing and scrolling easier. Exactly how far up the finger (index or 3rd) makes a lot of difference in how smooth or awkward this little guy is. (Right now I have it on my 3rd finger with the velcro strap at the distal joint (farthest from the hand), and am typing away with no trouble at all. It just took some getting used to.
It does indeed work on many surfaces. It works on the flat, plastic surface of the laptop, or the hard desk surface. I can slide it along the side of my pant leg and the screen pointer glides along. It is quite responsive and precise, once you get the hang of it.
One question I saw online was: why not just use the laptop touch pad in front of the keyboard, because the right button can be clicked by the thumb (saving the thumb) or finger of the other hand? Personally I have never liked the placement of the touch pad. I am right handed, so it would be easier to use if it was placed at the far right side of the laptop deck. It could be argued that this finger mouse does the same thing as the touch pad, and is remote - you can place it anywhere you are comfortable placing your hand instead of having to go where the touch pad is on the deck.
One clear negative, regardless of which finger it is placed on, is that the body of the mouse must be straight vertical. This means you must have your finger (index or 3rd) bent the entire time you are using the mouse. Bending the finger for an extended length of time can be as uncomfortable on the finger as repetitive clicking the standard mouse.
But for $3, this might be a good alternative and I can already see that surfing the internet is a lot easier with this guy than clicking and moving a standard mouse.
Pro's: It works on virtually any surface. Can easily control your computer when desk space is non-existent. Use it on a pants leg, couch seat or even your arm.
Con's: It is poorly designed/constructed.
The band that wraps around your finger causes irritation.
The USB wire is way too short (you will most likely need a USB extender)
The buttons break
The first one I ordered arrived with a broken right mouse button. The cover to the right button was broken off.
The replacement mouse has worked for 1 month plus a few days and now its right mouse button is broken. I saw how easy the buttons break so I have been using it like it was made of glass. It simply can't handle normal use.
My limited desktop area requires me to find an alternative to a standard mouse. I hate the laptop touch pad. A track ball will not work well without a flat level area to set it. The finger mouse would have been a perfect solution. <sigh>
If they fixed the above issues, I would be willing to pay $30.00 for this mouse. I really like it. Unfortunately it now lives in the garbage. Don't waste your money.
