Product Description

Casio

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

The Casio men's classic watch features an intuitive design that makes it easy-to-use for on-the-go athletes. The timepiece is constructed with a black resin band with an adjustable buckle clasp. A durable mineral window shields the round black dial face, which features date display. This timepiece is water resistant to 330 feet.

After a year mine stopped working. Thought it was battery went and replaced it worked for a couple of days and stopped again. Took it back to watch store to replace battery guy said battery is good replaced it with another one worked again for 3 days now it stopped again. Will not recommend this watch to nobody not worth the hassle. To the trash it goes.

The time is easy to read on the face, but the second hand and supplementary functions are obscured by the large main clock hands. Also, mine was not set to the correct time. Normally, this would be no problem, but the directions about setting the time were not clear. I finally took mine to a jeweler who showed me that I would have to unscrew the crown to access date and time setting functions. The rubber watchband makes this a good every day watch when leather or metal are not appropriate, but if I were running or engaging in sports, I'd go back to my lowly digital readout sports watch (also a Casio).
Finally, I agree with previous reviewers who questioned the price...my old Timex and Casio watches did the same thing, for much less money. I'll bring this travel situations when I don't want to be sporting a Seiko or something more expensive.

Casio MTF-E002B-1AVCF Classic Chronograph is 44 mm wide (47 mm including the crown) and 13 mm thick. Its length or distance lug-to-lug is 47 mm, and it has conventional lugs for a strap or bracelet 24 mm wide. With Casio's PVC plastic strap, it weighs four ounces. That is really heavy! It is a big, heavy steel watch with a traditional screwback case: the case back is threaded and it screws into the case body like a steel porthole. Its shape is called "cushion case," a round dial on a rectangular case. It is a retro style from the 1960s and 1970s which is popular today.

This watch has three sub-dials. The center sub-dial is a running seconds hand. The left sub-dial and the big seconds sweep hand are for the 60 minute chronograph or stopwatch function. The right sub-dial is a 24 hour timekeeper. It is slaved to the big hour hand and it shows the same time (you can't use it to show the time in another time zone).

The crown at 8 o'clock rotates a compass bezel under the watch's crystal. The compass bezel is helpful but not essential for using the watch as a solar compass. The Wikipedia article "Cardinal direction" has better instructions for doing this than Casio's manual.

Other reviewers have noted that the sub-dials are small, that the hour and minute hands are large, and that at certain times the chronograph function is hard to use. I agree. If you frequently time things, this may not be the best chronograph watch for you. But its large hands, numbers and bar markers make it easy to read the time at a glance, and they have the best luminescence I have seen on a Casio watch. After exposure to a good light source, you can read this watch in the dark for three to four hours. It has two-tone luminescence (blue and green) like
Casio Men's AMW320R-1EV Marine Ana-Digi Dive Watch  but it lasts much longer.

If you like the way this watch looks and need what it does well, I think it is a good buy under $100 and a very good buy under $90. Casio's plastic strap is good enough to keep it on your wrist, but you would probably want to replace it for improved comfort and appearance. I am trying to decide between a genuine rubber diver's strap and a leather "rally" strap (the kind with holes to ventilate your wrist). A black ion plated steel bracelet would look spectacular, but one 24 mm wide would cost more than the watch. That is too expensive for me, but it could be worth it if you plan on using your watch for weight training or emergency brass knuckles.

Big watch - need a large wrist to make this watch work for you - pretty heavy as well. But love the visibility of the dial and overall ruggedness of the watch. Wished the band was a bit softer - but overall I would buy it again and highly recommend it.
