Every pair of Eccos that I have owned have been of superb quality. I am a car salesman and live in Fresno ca where local summer temps run upwards of 110 degrees. These shoes put up with my 250 lbs running around on asphalt that is sometimes 150 degrees. I used to buy shoes for 60-80$ and they would fall apart every 90 days. Eccos last me a year and the only reason I don't get more time out of them is because they are so scuffed up on the outside that I cannot get a polish out of them anymore. At the 1 year mark they are so soft and comfortable too. The soles on my Eccos don't even seem to wear down at all. Stitches never come loose and I have no back or leg pain as I used to with other shoes. I bought this pair on clearance for just 52$ and picked up 2 pair. Nate that I would even pay the full 130$ for the pair they are worth it. Also they breathe well and do not have any bad odors.

I've been buying Dockers Oxfords for several years now and generally get about a year out of them before the sole is worn completely flat. They are comfortable during this time and don't have any issues other than accelerated sole wear.

I decided to spring for the more expensive Ecco shoes this time around to see if they would last longer. I was under the impression they were made in Portugal per Amazon's listing. I was disappointed when I received them and learned that they are actually made in China. They seem to have moved production to China while keeping the European price tag. All that aside, I can at least say one good thing about these shoes: I like the way they fit. They are pretty comfortable. That's the only good thing about them though. My biggest day-to-day issue with these shoes is breathability. They have none. My feet sweat like crazy in these shoes and they become a swampy mess during the Texas summer even as I sit in my air-conditioned office.

While they have been comfortable and the leather is still in pretty good shape, the leather upper began separating from the sole. Well within the 1-year warranty, I called Ecco to try to get the shoes repaired or replaced under warranty. The rep I spoke with promised to send me a pre-paid envelope to return the shoes to them under warranty. I never received this envelope, so I can only conclude that Ecco is not serious about honoring their warranty.

These are not worth the price premium over other brands. I will not be buying any more Ecco shoes.

Update: Ecco finally did send me the bag to return my old shoes to them for warranty consideration a few weeks ago. Today, there was a brand new replacement set of these shoes sitting on my doorstep. I am upgrading my rating by 1-star because they did stand behind their warranty after all.

These are not made in Portugal, as the country of origin stated in the description. I have found the same models to fit differently depending on the country of origin. The Chinese made version were snug across the top of the foot with less room in the toe box. The Portugese made model fits comfortably all around. Not too loose, not too snug.

Shoes are extremely comfortable, and after about 6 months of wear, seem to be fairly durable. The color is a little duller than the images lead you to believe, and it is tough to match up to a belt color accurately, but I find myself coming back to this pair when picking shoes out of the closet.

I never have issues with comfort at all, and can be on my feet all day without any fatigue. No squeeking noticed either. Front of toe box is somewhat boxy, but isn't that bad.
